Eype
and neighbouring Seatown are well known and popular fishing spots. Anglers
can expect to lose tackle in the snaggy rocks in this area although
occasional big fish - such as skate, conger and huss - are taken, along with
the smaller species of pout, wrasse, bass and dogfish. Mackerel provide good
sport in the summer months - sometimes they can be seen 'shoaling' with the
water surface 'boiling' as they chase their food of whitebait. Feathering or
spinning is best.
Further east along the
coast towards West Bay Harbour is another beach set between the headlands at
Eype. Once again the pattern is similar with rocky ground holding pout and
dogfish, and with some big bass taken after dark.
